As president of the Fresno Unified Board of Education , I am thrilled to introduce the graduation edition of our Faces of Fresno Unified digital magazine . This special issue celebrates the incredible achievements of the Class of 2024 and highlights their resilience , determination and limitless potential .
Inside you will find remarkable narratives , including those of Adieb Wahbeh from Bullard High School , who was forced to miss substantial amounts of class throughout his life , while having more than 60 surgeries . He remained active and engaged in classes and extracurriculars and is now graduating as a valedictorian . You will also meet Sālote Kumā from Fresno High School . Despite the devastating loss of her father to COVID-19 and her mother ' s battle with cancer , Sālote showed brave perseverance , graduating at just 16-years-old . These successes reflect the exceptional talents and dedication we know all our students possess .

I want to make a special shout-out to our students who have earned an associate degree during their high school career , earned college credits , took Advanced Placement courses , completed certifications and career technical pathways , who earned their State Seal of Biliteracy , built businesses , and so much more . I know you all will do big things as you head to your next chapter , whether that ’ s at a community college , a state university , a UC , an Ivy League , an HBCU , the armed forces , or straight into your career .
