About Isai : Isai Perez Hernandez attributes his strong work ethic and unwavering motivation to his father , a street vendor who was tragically murdered in 2021 . Despite this terrible loss , Isai found strength to move forward and excel academically , demonstrating to his mom , siblings and peers true resilience .
With his big heart , Isai looks forward to becoming an elementary teacher where he can positively impact others the same way his teachers have impacted him . Isai enjoys taking part in all his siblings ’ activities , never missing any of their school events . He is also a huge help to his mother and often serves as her translator .
It ’ s no surprise that Isai is a proud recipient of the California Seal of Biliteracy , given to students who have attained a high level of proficiency in speaking , reading , and writing in one or more languages in addition to English .
In his words : “ Today ’ s failure is tomorrow ’ s goal and the next day ’ s success .”
