I’ m thrilled to introduce another issue of our Faces of Fresno Unified digital magazine. This publication is so special because it highlights the incredible resilience and diversity of our district through the stories of the people who shape it. Our students, educators and leaders show courage when faced with challenges and persevere when life get tough.

In this issue you’ ll meet our 2025 Excellence in Education winners. These six individuals were nominated by their peers for the positive impact they’ ve had on our district and their steadfast dedication to our kids. To this inspirational group, we are thrilled to celebrate your triumphs alongside of you.

There are also stories from our amazing students. They are our why, and being a part of their journeys is not only a joy, it’ s a privilege. Each of you has the potential to achieve your dreams, and I can’ t wait to see what the future holds.

On a personal note, I have to give a huge shoutout to James Chea— one of our alumni spotlights this edition. James isn’ t just a superstar video game designer; he’ s also my childhood neighbor, my brother’ s best friend for over 30 years, and basically another brother to me. Seeing him recognized for his incredible work fills my heart with joy!
