“ She always capitalized on ‘ teachable moments ’ with students whenever they came into the office . She is passionate about learning and is always looking for opportunities to better her craft , regardless of what she is doing .”
One day , Mrs . Her invited her principal to the family farm to pick vegetables .
“ As she was talking about the crops , the drip system and farming in general , I knew she was going to be the next ag teacher at Baird ,” Martin said .
Mrs . Her was hired as a vocational education teacher . This year , she will finish her teaching credentials in business and finance , agriculture and natural resources , and education , child development and family services .
“ She has to be the most resourceful person I have ever met ,” Martin said .
“ She is passionate about kids , loyal , creative , and fun . I absolutely love working with her .”
Mrs . Her is constantly thinking of ways to better engage her students , including inviting guest speakers , and taking the students to the World Ag Expo in Tulare . She and her students are working on opening a farmers ’ market in November .
“ At the end of the day I ask myself , ‘ Am I doing enough ?’” she said .
