Daniel Robles-Reyes was a geology major , but fell in love with teaching and has never regretted changing career paths .

After six years as a classroom teacher , Robles is in his third year as an academic coach at Winchell Elementary School . As an academic coach , he is invited by teachers to work on areas “ they want to grow in .” Together , they strategize on lesson plans , examine classroom data and co-teach or tag-team teach . “ I do miss having my own classroom , but I ’ m fortunate to have teachers who welcome me into their classrooms ,” Robles said .
“ In your own classroom , it ’ s amazing , yet when you ’ re able to have that impact schoolwide , it ’ s a different sense , a different feeling .”
He enjoys getting to know students in all grades and he loves working with teachers and seeing them excited when they try a different approach with their student and are successful .
“ We ’ re building our craft together ,” Robles said .
Robles was born in Morelia in the state of Michoacan in Mexico , coming to Fresno when he was 5 . He grew up near Winchell , attending Lane
