About Noune : “ Elevate yourself . Elevate others ,” is both the ambitious and altruistic motto Noune Kachichyan lives by as she keeps laser-focused on continuously expanding her knowledge while also uplifting others .

Noune moved to the United States from Syria under political asylum in 2013 . As a young child , she took on the responsibility of quickly learning the language and acclimating so she could help guide the rest of her family .

In the decade since , she ’ s had the opportunity to explore her individuality and devote her time and effort to her future . She ’ s the proud cofounder of iMentor , a student-led club that has spread to three middle schools in the district . Volunteers support younger students both academically and socially – emotionally , preparing the next generation of leaders , which aligns with Noune ’ s motivation – the hope for a better future .

As part of Homenetmen Scouting , she is the assistant scoutmaster of the Fresno Sassoon chapter . This international organization has chapters in 24 countries and strives to keep the Armenian language and culture alive . Noune was recently honored for earning the highest rank of Eagle Scout . She says she ’ s grown to love the qualities that set her apart and has embraced being an Armenian American .

Soon Noune will head off to college , where she will be using her scholarship funds to purchase costly items needed for college , including a laptop and transportation around campus .

In her words : “ Despite the internal struggles with my family and friends , and the external , trivial challenges as a young woman , I ’ ve developed into the person I ’ ve always wanted to be : strong-willed , determined , and genuinely myself .”
