What role do athletics have in students ’ academic success and journey to graduation ?
For many students their passion and interests lie in participating in sports , which can also motivate them to come to school every day . Even if they aren ’ t equally passionate about their time in the classroom as they are about their time in sports , being involved in sports can help students keep up their grades for eligibility and have good attendance so that they can play in practice and games . Research shows that students who participate in athletics have a higher overall graduation rate .
What sports do you play ?
I have played or been involved in many different types of sports : Baseball , football , wrestling , track and field , soccer , softball and Olympic-style weightlifting . I currently enjoy participating in surfing , rock climbing , golfing and dirt bike riding .
If you could attend any sporting event at any level , what would it be ?
I have a long list , but a few sporting events I would like to see in person are attending the Olympics to see track and field , wrestling , and weightlifting ; an Ohio State vs . Michigan football game at the “ Big House ;” the Cincinnati Reds winning the World Series again ; and the Minnesota Vikings winning the Super Bowl for once !
What community activities are you involved in ?
I am involved with my church in many different aspects . I am a member of the Fresno Elks Club . I also support the Fresno Area Community Enterprise non-profit .
